Component Construction
Components are built using local building codes and traditional framing details. Components, such as roof trusses, wall panels and floor panels, are built in a factory. The components are then transported to the job site where they are assembled into place with a crane. Completion of the exterior and interior of the home is done at the job site. Most builders use components for roof trusses and now find the same quality and added benefits in using component wall panels and floor systems.
The main benefits of Component Construction are:
- The builder is better able to control costs for the homeowner
- Components are built in a controlled environment using skilled laborers, jigs and precisions tools guaranteeing a high-quality product
- The quality of lumber and other materials is consistent
- Homes are framed in faster reducing labor costs and construction loan interest
- Smoother inspections
- Less cost for finishing work - the dimensions are true and walls are plumb & square
- Delays due to material shortages and theft are eliminated
Builders can build more homes in less time with fewer call backs. Owner-builders can have piece of mind knowing that they have a superior structure |
