Imagine being asleep in the bedroom of your home when suddenly, at 2 AM. you're abruptly awakened by a horrific loud noise outside! It sounds as if a speeding train is running straight through your home. Then suddenly your house is lifted, shifted, and slammed to the ground in one big heaving event. You rush down stairs to see that your refrigerator is still upright, with everything safely inside. Your dishes stayed in the cupboard and there is little interior damage. You go outside and your home, despite sitting on top of your car, is pretty well intact with very little structural damage. Only two windows are shattered and a few roof shingles are loose. You look around and notice that your neighbors homes didn't fare quite as well. This is what happened to Matt & Kim Chesley on November 10, 2002 when a F2 tornado ravaged Portland, TN.

 Only the Roof Burned

Imagine that you decide to go on vacation, after all its cold and snowing, and you are relaxing by the pool when you receive a call from the Fire Chief telling you there has been a fire at your home. You rush home to find that only the roof burned which was the only part of your home not constructed of SIP panels! You decide then and there that when you rebuild you will use SIP roof panels. |
